General Information:
The rate listed is for a private fishing trip for one to five people. Five adults all fishing will be a little crowded. We may only be able to get four people fishing at the same time. This all depends on the type of fishing we are doing, as well as the wind direction and current flow.
No More Than Six Passengers total are allowed per U.S. Coast Guard regulations. If you want to bring six it will be very crowded!
We do not do walk on trips. Only private fishing charters.
New to fishing? No worries! We will help you with everything you need to know to land the big one!
Salty Hooker Charters Provides: all necessary licenses, fishing rods, tackle, bait, ice for bait and fish, and we clean and bag all legal fish.
You Need To Bring: proper clothing for the season, hat, sunglasses, sunblock (no spray), and a cooler with drinks and snacks. Alcohol and smoking are allowed.
Any Fishing Trip may be scheduled for a longer duration upon request. Contact us for availability and pricing.
Cancellations:
You may cancel or modify your trip up to 72 hours (3 days) before the trip start date and time. If you do not give 72 hours (3 days) notice, or fail to show up, you will forfeit your 10 percent deposit.
If Captain Jon needs to cancel the trip due to inclement weather or dangerous conditions, your deposit will be refunded in full. Jon will contact you ASAP and stay in communication if we have any possible weather concerns for your trip.
2025 Fishing Charter Rates & Details:
June 15 thru October 31:
4 Hour Seasonal fishing trip starts at 8AM or 2PM - $600
6 Hour Seasonal fishing trip starts at 8AM or 2PM - $800
We will bottom fish for whatever bite is hot at the time in the Cape Charles/Kiptopeke area. Fish possibly available to target depending on time of year and season: Cobia, Spadefish, Red Drum, Flounder, Sharks, Speckled Trout, Roundhead, Spot, Croaker, Weakfish, Bluefish, Black Sea Bass, and Tautog.
August 1 thru October 15:
3 Hour Last Light Trophy Red Drum fishing trip starts 3 hours from Sunset - $500
4 Hour Last Light Trophy Red Drum fishing trip starts 4 hours from Sunset - $600
We will be bottom fishing for trophy Red Drum in the Chesapeake Bay near Cape Charles. Red Drum trips are only available for late afternoon until sunset because Red Drum prefer the evening/last light bite. The trophy Reds we catch are usually 40 to 55 plus inches. The slot to keep a Red Drum is between 18 and 26 inches. Anything bigger or smaller must be released. Probable bycatch while Red Drum fishing: Sharks, Rays, Skates, Bluefish, Roundhead, Toadfish. Once in a while a Cobia.
November 1 thru January 31, 2026:
April 15 thru May 15 2026:
4 Hour Tautog fishing trip starts at 8:00AM - $600 or at 2:00PM - $550
6 Hour Tautog fishing trip starts at 8:00AM or 11:00AM - $750
We will bottom fish reefs and primarily target Tautog in the Cape Charles/Kiptopeke area. Possible bycatch depending on time of year: Black Drum, Sheepshead, Black Sea Bass, & Flounder.
December 1 thru January 31, 2026:
7 Hour Trophy Striped Bass fishing trip starts at 8:00AM - $900
8 Hour Trophy Striped Bass fishing trip starts at 8:00AM - $1000
Catch a huge Trophy Striped Bass/Rockfish! We live line eels in the lower Chesapeake Bay for these huge fish. Trophy Stripers weigh from 35-60+ pounds and measure 40-55+ inches. This is a catch and release season because the fish are well above the 19-24 inch slot that they must be in to keep. Any fish caught over 44 inches is eligible for a trophy citation/plaque from VMRC. We have an enclosed helm and cabin with a heater for cold days. Just bring some warm clothing, snacks, and drinks and you're ready to go!
May 16 thru June 14:
5 Hour Early Spring fishing trip starts at 8AM or 2PM - $700
7 Hour Early Spring fishing trip starts at 8AM - $900
We will fish around the Kiptopeke and Bay Bridge Tunnel areas on these early-spring trips. We will target whatever bite is hot. To include: Black Drum, Red Drum, Tautog, Sheepshead, Sharks and catch and release Cobia. The Cobia fishery usually really starts heating up at the beginning of June. Cobia season opens June 15, so all Cobia must be released before this date.
June 15 through July 21:
4 Hour Cobia fishing trip starts at 8AM or 2PM - $600
6 Hour Cobia fishing trip starts at 8AM or 2PM - $800
We will bottom fish for Cobia around the Cape Charles/Kiptopeke area. Cobia season starts June 15 and allows us to keep 2 fish per boat per day. The minimum length to keep Cobia is 43 inches. Probable bycatch while Cobia fishing: Sharks, Rays, Skates, Bluefish, Roundhead. Once in a while a Red Drum.
